Love the one of the bonehead that turns into the coned off construction area going the wrong way then waits until the 1ton Ford towing a trailer is right on top of him then pulls out right infront of him.

I tow quite often, and I swear down that as soon as I hitch up I become invisible to some drivers. On single track and narrow roads they can be looking me dead in the eye but still be driving right down the centre of the road until the very last second. My trailer actually sits wider than the Land Rover so I wince when they fly past with only a foot to spare.

So, this is a slightly confusing intersection, but do people there really just like not understand how traffic lights work? It’s not even like they are racing the light and run it right after it turns, it’s like it just doesn’t apply to them. I guess it could be a left on red thing for a one-way street, but that doesn’t apply here, and certainly not when there are cars coming.

Looks like the one-way confuses a lot of people. I’ve turned into a one way when I was in an unfamiliar area of town. There were no cars driving towards me and some how I missed the sign(s). Fortunately there were enough visual cues once I got pointed in the wrong direction.

As far as the traffic lights, perhaps they ought to change that intersection to vertical traffic lights instead of horizontal. If drivers are unfamiliar with the intersection and it’s a one-way / two way intersection, they may be under a bit of sensory overload. Red on top might be easier to pick up on. Add the sun light reducing the visibility of the traffic lights and once one car fails to properly read the traffic light perhaps others just followed suit. When you are in unfamiliar Roman territory sometimes its easier to just do as the Romans do.
